What do you want to learn?

source: schoolofeverything

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be setting up my craft room — a project I’ve been dreaming about for years! –  and I’m planning to register for the Home Ec Online course just as soon as I have a place to keep my sewing machine and regularly sew.

My goal this summer is to learn how to sew.

So today I want to know…

Question of the Day: What’s Holding You Back from Your Dreams?

May 5, 2011

With the launch of my new ebook this week, I’ve been thinking a lot about the things that hold us back from pursuing our dreams — fear, laziness, guilt, etc. I really believe that pursuing your dreams, no matter how crazy or far-fetched they may seem, is an important part of living a full life. Notice [...]

Question of the Day: Can Your Kids Be Whatever They Want to Be?

It seems like there are two different approaches to this question. This first camp says that our culture is becoming increasingly child-centered (which I agree with), and that encouraging kids to reach for their dreams and telling them that they can be whatever they want to be just feeds into that and is simply not [...]

I just finished reading Seth Godin’s Poke the Box, the first title released through The Domino Project, founded by Seth Godin and powered by Amazon.com to try to change the way books are published and spread. The premise of this book is that it’s not enough to stick with the status quo or even have [...]

Question of the Day: What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

January 10, 2011

I love to ask my girls — and really any kid — what they want to be when they grow up. In our house, the answer changes regularly and has included everything from an underwater photographer to an Olympic swimmer. Sometimes, I think we also need to ask ourselves this question as adults. I’ve held [...]

Being self-employed — whether you’re a blogger, a shop owner or a freelancer — can be especially difficult during the holidays, especially if you’re a one-man show! Although working for yourself should ideally allow you to set your schedule and priorities, it can also mean that there’s no one to cover your business so you [...]

Question of the Day: Who’s Your Biggest Cheerleader?

I’m so thankful for the encouraging people I have in my life — like my husband, who dreams big with me, and Sherri, Kara and Amanda, who always have something encouraging to say, and Tara and my mom, who jump in with both feet when I share a wild and crazy idea. I’m sure there [...]

Question of the Day: Do You Have a Degree?

Although I do have a bachelor’s degree, I know plenty of successful people who don’t have them, and I’m not convinced that they’re necessary for anyone to achieve success (especially given the continually rising costs of college!). However, I know a lot of people would disagree with me, so today I want to know… Do [...]

Question of the Day: What’s Your Passion?

This fall, one of the topics I’m excited to blog about more is setting goals, pursuing your passion and making things happen. Without sounding too much like a self-help guru, I really am passionate about the topic and empowering others to set big goals and achieve them. I think that sometimes we sell ourselves short [...]
